I’m gonna go ahead and call it now:
Wolves, Blackburn and QPR for relegation. Bolton and Wigan to survive by the skin of their teeth. You heard it here first, folks.
I think it’s great for English football that two of the promoted sides will survive this season. Swansea and Norwich have come up from the Championship and have been more than competitive (Norwich’s recent 6-1 drubbing nonwithstanding) - a welcome relief from the Derby County debacle of a few years back.
Is Marcelo Bielsa the most innovative coach in the world?
Thrashing Manchester United over two legs certainly adds credibility to his idealism. Rather than play the classic ‘underdog’ role of men behind the ball and fast counters, Bilbao totally dominated possession and chances with their high pressure, high intensity and exhilarating style. Despite a club policy of fielding only home grown players, Athletic are the neutral’s choice ( and certainly my pick) to win the Europa League.
Waves of Passion at Wembley.
This time, the wave is actually present outside the stadium. It’s a truly phenomenal long exposure photograph taken by optickarma. Fans exiting Wembley after the match between England and Holland create a stream towards the underground station.

Sian Massey has gotta be the best linesman (linesperson?) in the Premier League. Andy Gray doesn’t know shit.
In football, everything is complicated by the presence of the opposing team.
